“It’s only rock ‘n’ roll, mister.” Inspired by the sounds of The Strokes, Television, The Clash, Oasis, Pavement, David Bowie, Wilco, and many other classic groups, The Bolt Actions are a rock 'n' roll band.

Their story begins and ends in the city of Edmonton. This collection was recorded independently between 2017-2021 and features new recordings of original songs written by the band, as well as several archival bonus tracks from their early days.

I first met The Bolt Actions back in 2011. At the time, I was working with a local venue, curating a collection of local artists for the venue's jukebox. One of the first CDs submitted to the project was a handmade copy of 'The Bolt Actions EP' - possibly the only copy ever made. I still have it. I later interviewed the group for local radio and we became friends.

Fast forward to 2017, The Bolt Actions were growing up and growing apart, and the band had gone dormant as a result. Given that only a few recordings existed from their heyday, I persuaded the remaining members to consider making a proper album as a document of their songs. As the band was incomplete, I offered to fill the missing roles myself for the sessions, and to produce and engineer the project. They picked the songs they wanted to preserve, and we wrote a couple new tunes to fill out the album. Several of the recordings from that original EP have been included here as bonus tracks, along with a blooper reel containing jolly outtakes from our studio sessions, and a few highlights from that same original radio interview I did with the band back in 2012.

Now that it's finished, I’ve likely heard each of these songs hundreds of times. I still enjoy them. We all hope you will enjoy them too.
